HOTEL RESERVATIONS

There are specific rules that we need to follow in order for a sleeping room to qualify for tax exemption.

  1. A reservation has to be held and paid with the organization's credit card only.  A guest cannot guarantee or pay for their sleeping room with a personal credit card and receive any tax exemptions
  2. The hotel will send the organization a secured Sertifi credit card authorization link.  The organization will complete and submit.  It will state the guest or guests' names that will be covered by the credit card.  This needs to be completed prior to check in. The second option of payment would be if the guest brings a check from their organization for the total amount charged.
  3. The organization will also need to complete the tax exemptions of which they qualify.  There are 3 taxes that make up the 17.5% tax on our sleeping rooms. In order to be free of not paying any tax the organizations need to qualify for all 3 exemptions.  Know that only a tiny percentage of our clients actually qualifies for all 3. This needs to be completed and given to the hotel prior to check-in.

The best bet would be for the guest to reach out to Brittany Stone, Front Office Manager,  brittany.stone@columbiasussex.com She can guide the guest through the steps.
